Reiki Healer Provides Natural Relief

By Beverly C. Ralph

Alternative, homeopathic and natural healing techniques are growing in popularity. This is due largely in part to them being not being invasive, involving no additional pain, and remaining free from unwanted side effects. People with many varied conditions, both physical and mental in nature, have found relief from visiting a reiki healer.

This Japanese healing technique is centered around the idea that it is possible to harness one's spirit power and use it for beneficial means. The name is comprised of two separate words, Rei and Ki, which represent "higher power of universal life" and "energy". When they are combined, the definition changes slightly to mean "life force energy", that power believed to allow a person's body and soul to heal itself.

While the practice is spiritual in its nature, it is not at all religious based and has no association with a particular belief system. There is no dogma that must be followed in order to use this technique. A person does not even have to believe in the power of energy transference in order for it to work.

A normal session is between 60 and 90 minutes with the client resting comfortably on their backs on a table, or sitting upright in a chair. The treatment begins by allowing the individual to discuss their concerns with the practitioner and giving them the opportunity to express what they hope the healing will achieve. The information gives the therapist specific points to which energy should be targeted.

It is generally suggested that the client wear loose, comfortable, non binding or restricting clothing to the session. The individual will always remain completely clothed, though the lighter the garments are, the more easily the energy exchange tends to go. There is rarely any physical contact between the practitioner and the client, though at times very light touches may be necessary.

The practitioner starts proceeding through a routine cycle of hand movements beginning at the client's feet of head. These standard actions are meant to direct their energy in a way to balance the individual's chakras and help them relax. Focus is then placed on the specific areas of concern, directing the energy towards removing the problems and negativity.

Although there are no claims that this practice is capable of curing illness and disease, it is regularly used as a form of treatment for a number of conditions. These include things like asthma, addiction, detoxification, pain, headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, stress and anxiety. People use it to ease the effects of many maladies, both physical and mental.
