Knots happen because the mobility is limited. Stretching and muscle exercises are the best way for you to increase the range of your movement. With regular exercise, you will avoid experiencing muscle strains and the knots will slowly ebb away until you are already used to the work and exercise. This way, you can get rid of the annoying knots permanently.
