3 Free Online Resources Every Woman Can Utilize to Be Safer

By Scott Eric

1 - Data versus. Marvelous Stories

As a pro self defense instructor, I'm happy to have so many females training with us. In our alignment classes, I am going through some fast tools and give basic guidance which nearly always counters the what women have been told. Seek the reality about your private safety through information. Stories are exciting, engaging, frightening - but stories are dissimilar from data. Stories can include data, but stories are the micro-view. We need the macro-view.

What's really taking place where we live, work, or visit? Where can we get that? The media? The media tells stories that are specially picked, professionally produced, and edited.

The media offers a service, nonetheless it is not a public service. It is a private service driven by advertising. There's nothing wrong with this of course, it just skews reporting toward getting eyeballs on screens and paper - where they will also see the paid advertisements.

2 - Not Hiding It, Just Not Talking about It...

Are you aware that many entertainment districts with heaps of bars and eateries are privately held, and assertive reporting on crime trends is discouraged? How is this done? With advertising greenbacks. Political influence. How often have stars and sportsmen gotten help "keeping it out of the papers?" The Net has definitely assisted in turning this around, but there is still picking and choosing going on.

Police reports are naturally filed. They should be. Whether a stories desk does anything with a trend of one or two attacks against ladies at the hot spots is another matter.

Know What's Actually Occuring.

3 - Personal Safety is about Knowledge, Behavior, and Tools.

The web is a tremendous source of info, which drives knowledge. Here are some great, free tools that we share with our clients. Note - The internet is awesome for information , but creates some pitfalls with behavior - which I'll cover in a later article, with Social Networks.

3 FREE Info Tools that keep you safer:

www.crimereports.com - This database includes criminal activity in the U.S, UK, and Canada. A 30 day history of crimes are available on the map, along with the addresses, names, and images of registered sex predators. This absolutely free resource includes a roll-up of tangible police reports, on a Google map-type format.

How often have you had to make an inquiry about the safety of an area you are traveling to or when thinking about a move? Just asking around can provide you with an understanding of what is happening, but it is better to grasp what has happened.

Fast Background Probe - Ever question whether a new chum, business associate, or neighbour has a record? Does something seem a bit "off" about someone put in from of you? You can do a moderately good search on the web, freely. This might not include everything - but most politics, crime, and law-enforcement happens at the local level. Many states have free court record searches available on the internet. Your country's site may look different than the ones I show.

Be wary of sites that guarantee a free background check hitting every criminal database in the world , then send you to a sales page to purchase a membership. A thorough background check will cost money (about $20) - but a check check takes 2 minutes and is free. The linke is viewable from our blog.

Amazon Home Services - At first, this one might appear unusual, but over time, one of the most common questions we have had asked from women is how it's possible to find competent, non-creepy service execs. We do not suggest coughing up for any sort of list or referral, as the paid services often prioritize companies that pay to be on the list .

Amazon is moving aggressively into home services, and the female demographic is a huge part of their multi-billion dollar firm. Do not waste your time calling places attempting to find someone that has a brain in his head and failed to just get out of prison.

Source any service through an online source that has reviews . Get a quote or fixed rate for easier work. Let any provider know you can't wait to give a 5-star review for great work. (and they'll understand the flip side) Any visit should be booked, preferably earlier in the morning, and any service pro should have ID and present it before gaining access to your home. ?

In the subsequent article in this series, we will have a video guide including one of our female team members installing an easy, no-fuss camera monitoring system, which anyone who can work a smartphone and laptop PC can do!
